121 Days: Wait for the Green Light

Speed limits are usually clearly indicated in South Africa. Speed limits on highways are 120km/h, those on major roads outside built-up areas are 100 km/h, those on major roads within built-up areas are 80km/h and those on normal city/town roads are 60 km/h.

Looks like we will need to get upto speed on this one, well except for Luis and Andres who usually do these speeds in the car park!¿

Wearing of seatbelts is compulsory.

Red traffic lights (called Robots) require a full stop. It is not permitted to turn while the light is red.

A special kind of crossing is the ‘four way stop’ where the car that stops first has right of way.

You will not encounter many traffic circles, but when you do, take special care since the general attitude of drivers is that traffic circles do not constitute a traffic management roadway structure.

Now do I really have to wait till it goes green?

122 Days: Red Cross

Got the little red cross today as I was unsuccessful in my bid for some World Cup Final Tickets. :(

Now to discuss with my two associates the next plan. 4th Phase Ticket Phase starts tomorrow and it’s first in best dressed.

Back to study some more South African Traffic Signs:

123 Days: Sydney

Went to Parramatta Stadium today to watch Sydney FC and Perth Glory. Great game that ended 3-2 in favour of Sydney.

This is the first time that I’ve seen an A League game this season and the crowd was a healthy 8000 odd.

Being at the game reminded me of what it will be like in South Africa. As this game represented exactly what I won’t be seeing in Africa.

Small crowd, hopeless food, hole in the net, unorganised, poor security. The football was ok as it ended up being a great game.

Sydney hit the lead and Perth equalised with the last kick in the first half. Sydney went 2-1 up with a controversial goal that went through the net but was awarded by the assistant referee only for Perth to equalise once more. Aloisi made a great header to win it for Sydney 3-2 and repay his marquee player tag.

Now to continue with my South African driving lessons. Now what does this sign mean ¿

124 Days: Fear

Today I spoke with a friend who highlighted just how dangerous Jóberg will be. I call this event, “Your fear talking to You”.

Once I realised I created this event I knew to lose attachment and release the fear.

Looking forward to receive my stab proof vest with the Uruguayan Flag, only as a momento of 2010.

Now to practice my South African driving exam. What to do when you see this traffic sign?

125 Days: World Cup Simulator

Today I invested in the World Cup Simulator which predicts the winner of South Africa 2010.

The simulator collated all the data of the 32 countries, the weather for South Africa for June this year, all data for the predicted referees, predicted bribing, FIFA and their double dealings, drug use, sex, religous beliefs, political views, history, gypsy fortune teller predictions, money, astronomy, mathematics, formulas, time, recovery and all things Futbol.

The simulator came back with the following prediction:

The 2010 World Cp Final

Uruguay 3 – 2 España

Vamos Uruguay Vamos!!!!

126 Days: Phase 3 Tickets Comfirmed

Fantastic news as the tickets for Andres and Luis have been confirmed this morning.

Now we know that the 3 amigos will be in the stadium for Uruguays 3 Group Games. Just thinking about that makes me get emotional as it will be amazing. Then of cause depending on Uruguays performance it could end after the first game.

One thing that Uruguay guarantees is that there will be suffering. Hay Que Sufrir, Hay Que Sufrir…

127 Days: Been Done Before

Testing the WordPress App again, let’s see if it let’s me insert an image.

Been Done Before, the classic line used in many situations. Uruguay have won the World Cup and not once but twice.

Uruguay, Italy, Germany, Brazil, England, Argentina, France….. what do all these countries have in common?

They have all won the World Cup and are the only countries that can claim to know how to play football, fussball, futébol, Futbol.

All the other countries are improving and can dream of winning the World Cup sometime soon.

The pressure is on to be the World Cup winner in Africa. Will any of the top 7 win it again?

My guess is yes, but just where will Uruguay place that 5th Star. Let’s do it different to Brazil and place it on the currency, develop a new stamp, add it to the national flag, car licence plates, cedular. ;)

128 Days: IPhone Update

Using the new version of the WordPress App. So far so good, has only crashed once but saved the draft post.

Watching the African Nations Final and Egypt are the best African Nation as they win the tournament again, Ghana with their Serbian Coach will be a tuff game for Australia.

Australia has a super tuff group with Germany 3 Time World Champion, Ghana finalsts at the 2010 African Nations Cup just 5 months before South Africa 2010. Serbia truely independent for the first time at a World Cup.

Great seeing this tournament as it shows who are the strong teams. Let’s beat the French, beat South Africa 1-0 and nicely and smash the Mexicans or give some green cards away.

Still waiting on tickets, Vamos FIFA Vamos!!!!!

129 Days: Uruguay No Ma

!!!!!Vamos Uruguay Vamos!!!!!

The best game in the whole South American Qualifiers would have to be the Ecuador 1-2 Uruguay. I remember watching the game live and thinking we could still get a draw after losing 1-0. The instant equaliser and then a penalty at the end of the game was a great moment for Uruguay. That foundation built strength for the team with a qualification attitude. We need a big game against France and recover in time for South Africa.

Mexico will be the Decider…
